Converting to solar power – try it out first

Renewable energy have in common the fact that they are generally free of any pollutants, they harm the environment less than common energy sources and the systems which use renewable energy are less costly to operate than those that use fossil fuels. The best type of renewable energy which has all these characteristics is solar power. Solar power can be a bit costly to acquire and install but if you have a tight budget but still wish to start using this type of energy you can make an experiment, for example make a lighting system or you can experiment with a hot water project using solar energy.
For the lighting system, the first step is to purchase a small DC power lighting system which is easy to set up. If you don’t wish to set it up yourself you have the option of buying a DC lighting system complete with a solar panel which provides enough power for a small lighting system or a DC appliance. You also have the option of photovoltaic cells, charge regulators, inverters etc the choice is yours for the pieces which form your experimented solar energy system. With this you can light outdoor landscapes, gardens, walkways, driveways, patios, pool areas etc.
If you want to test how solar power works you can also try doing this by heating water. To heat water through solar power you need to use solar heat collector panels which have pipes included in the frame that capture the heat from the sun via a water alcohol mixture contained in the pipes. The mixture carries the captured heat to a heat exchanging device which will heat the water you use in your hot water system.
If these two experiments finish by satisfying your curiosity about solar energy you can proceed to turning to a bigger system which can supply you with a larger amount of solar energy to be converted to electrical energy or used for heating the water project you use in your household.
